Rendering Systems

A list of render systems are listed below, giving you a simple guide to what's best for you…

Monocouche Renders

Our most common render today – These weather-resistant, through coloured renders are designed for both new and old buildings, making them a desirable product to use over multiple backgrounds. They visualise a flat, sharp detailed wall with their flat but slightly mottled texture on closer inspection.

There's even an option to apply these as a heavy textured pattern, either as a tyrollean finish or a traditional rough-cast appearance, commonly used across country cottages.

Our vast rendering spectrum covers all desirable effects with Monocouche, from Ashlar jointing to Quoin stone features. We can even apply these renders with an array of coloured stones, including Ashton Marble or Polar white aggregates, for pebble dashing applications that are slightly different.

Suitably used over most masonry backgrounds including brick or block-work, External wall Insulation (EWI) and render carrier-boards, which provide a number of suitable substrates for a versatile product.

Monocouche renders can be applied as a one coat render or as a two coat system, when applied across a suitable basecoat layer with an in-bedded fibre mesh system.

Our applications are covered under a 10-year manufacturer guarantee for quality and reassurance this product and application is the very best the UK has to offer.

Acrylic and Silicone Renders

These light weight decorative applications are applied over a pre-finished, flat rendered surface, part of a specified system by the manufacturer and carried out by our team.

Classed as decorative thin coat, they give excellent adhesion even at 1-3mm, giving a water-resistant surface and a complete monolithic look.

The acrylic is a non-breathable application with a high level of water resistance which can be easily cleaned and provides a high number of colour variations.

Silicone top coats are Vapour permeable, meaning they can let water evaporate unlike Acrylics.

They provide a seamless waterproof finish in a number of desired colours. Their flexibility and increased resistance to UV rays, means that they will not fade over time, making them resistance to organic growth.

Traditional Rendering

Traditional Rendering

Traditional rendering consists of two common types, the first is – Pebble dashing or dash receiver. This is a popular widespread exterior coating where aggregated stone pebbles are applied over a sand and cement render coat, applied to a masonry surface. Pebble dashing is commonly used to hide unsightly brickwork or breeze blocks, however, has become a popular traditional country look. By the nature of its textured appearance & natural rustic charm, pebble dash can transform the look of the building drastically. We have an array of different blends of stone that can also be applied alongside coloured renders to enhance the overall look of any property.

The alternative is a smooth, flat traditional render. The make-up of the mix, will be carefully gauged with washed river sands and sometimes hydraulic limes, to ensure the correct mortar mix can be achieved for the project in mind. The application will be levelled flat and float finished, to achieve a flat surface for completion. The application of an acrylic or silicone render can be applied over the walls or painted with a masonry paint.

This also leads onto variations of finishes which can be achieved, using traditional methods such as Banding or Ashlar detailing, as shown to the left. One of our objectives is to keep the traditional methods, but incorporating these into modern renders. Something extremely challenging, however achievable, as seen on our Hertford house project.

External Wall Insulation

EWI - External wall insulation is a great way to protect your property against heat loss and improving the likes of condensation and penetrating damp, by creating a new weatherproof layer on the outside of the building, slowing down the movement of heat through the walls and controlling the heat between them. This gives the property an advantage by retaining the heat within the rooms and keeping it there, acting like a thermal jacket, “Nice and warm”.

EWI systems are proven to almost half the yearly heating bills and decrease condensation dramatically when combined with other heat loss preventing measures. Eliminating future mould growth and ensuring your home stays rotten free.

IWI – Internal wall insulation is an application where external measurers cannot be performed and therefore walls are thermally improved internally. This also benefits clients who would like to work, "room by room", to improve their thermal efficiency…. Simply applying a thermal backed plasterboard to the internal walls and plastered, will complete the process.

Note: Do check the boards thicknesses work for your room, by checking pipe works for radiators, window cill depths and replacement of skirtings due to the walls being extended into the room by the thicknesses of the boards chosen.

From the very beginning of the project Dean and Gary were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They worked with us to design the style and finish that we wanted. This included preparing example floorings and nothing was too much trouble for them. Their knowledge of the forcrete product was extremely impressive and they gave us total confidence in their ability to provide a super flooring. Which they did. Their preparation for the flooring was impressive to watch and their attention to detail was commendable. They committed to the dates provided for the work and delivered to the dates agreed (this included working one weekend). We are unbelievably happy with the flooring and we are extremely grateful to Render and Stucco (especially Dean and Gary) for their experience and professionalism. We would not have any hesitation to recommend Render and Stucco - and we will definitely use them again in the future. Many thanks to them for delivering a super floor, to ours agreed specification and dates…very impressive.

Fantastic rendering job on an extension to match our house, carried out by Gary, Dean, Phil and Luke of Render & Stucco. Really high quality with a textured finish that matches perfectly the earlier rendering to the house which they did for us two years ago. Would recommend Render & Stucco Design without hesitation for a top quality professional job.

No hesitation at all in recommending Render & Stucco. Very happy with the external wall insulation. Not only does the insulation work a treat, but the house appearance has been completely transformed and it looks great! The team were always polite and pleasant, everything was completed to a high standard, and attention to detail was a priority. Thank you Gary and the team for a job well done.

I had this company to do some feature walls inside my house (Travertino solid plaster) which is very special. They also rendered the outside of my house which makes the house look very nice. The quality from start to finish was exceptional the boys who came were very polite and very respectful. I would highly recommend this company very professional in their approach.
